My aim was to gain an England Masters' vest. I thought it would be a few years off yet.
Once I started a training plan with Andy I thought this could be possible this year! I learnt a different way of training and adding different sessions in and learning that slow, shorter runs are good!
It was good to have someone to ask those questions / advice you probably know the answer too!
Knowing someone is looking at your running pushes you that bit more. Andy gave me the belief in myself and that I could achieve my goal.

I approached Andy with the aim of potentially achieving a marathon PB in Berlin. I had previously used online training plans but had never worked with a coach. I wasn’t sure that I could improve my marathon PB, so was open to whatever Andy could throw at me !
The schedule worked well to keep a work, life, running balance and was a manageable way to add marathon training into a busy lifestyle.
Andy was always on hand to answer worries and questions that I had along the way.
Come race day I was over the moon to run a ‘perfect’ race with, for the first time ever, an even pace which became a negative split as I was able to increase the pace slightly over the last 12k to cross the line in a new pb of 3.45.24!
5 weeks later I ran New York marathon as a ‘race to enjoy’ – a much harder marathon than Berlin – and was super surprised to knock another minute off my pb, coming in at 3.44.33.
Training for me, with slightly lower mileage and focus on two more intense sessions, really got the balance right to minimise fatigue and maximise potential.
